This Mother’s Day, get Mom what she really wants. Sure, flowers are great and always appreciated. But KFC is inspiring others to go the extra mile by adding some fried chicken to a bouquet of roses.
KFC partnered with Proflowers for the Kentucky Fried Buckquet kit promotion, which includes a bouquet of 12 roses in a KFC-branded vase, along with eight skewers for fried chicken.
The chicken, unfortunately, is not included, so you have to add that yourself. KFC fans can get the kit by ordering the KFC Sides Lovers Meal on the mobile app or KFC.com between May 1 and May 3. They’ll then receive a promo code to redeem for the Buckquet kit.
KFC has gotten in on the holiday spirit in recent years. Most recently, it released a mitten bucket hugger—literally a sweater for a bucket of chicken that includes little slots for your hands—for holiday parties and cold winter nights.
It also hasn’t been afraid to apply its chicken imagery to things that, well, customers might not associate with chicken—like Crocs shoes that smell like fried chicken. And let’s not forget the actual video game console that also heats up your chicken for you.
This latest idea is really an example of taking the standard gifts for a holiday and wondering, “How can we add chicken?”
“A regular bouquet of flowers is a good gift for mom, but a Sides Lovers Meal and Kentucky Fried Buckquet is a finger lickin’ good way to take Mother’s Day from a 10 to an 11,” Nick Chavez, chief marketing officer for KFC U.S., said in a press release.
According to KFC, Mother’s Day is one of the biggest sales days of the year for them, with an average of 400,000 buckets sold each Mother’s Day. So, from KFC’s perspective, it’s a bit of a no-brainer to make something specifically for all the moms out there craving chicken with their flowers.
